We know that busy, on-the-go girls strive to make the most of every day. But, between going to work, working out and dozens of other priorities to check off on her daily to-do list, it’s often hard to maintain a healthy diet. Because staying nourished and eating healthy is so important, we’re sharing six healthy snacks for the girl on the go. What are some of your favorites?
Eggs: Simply hard-boil some eggs, slice ‘em up and throw them in the fridge at work (don’t forget to label them!). Eggs contain plenty of nutrients that will keep energy levels high throughout the day (including protein). Hard-boiled eggs, in particular, satisfy hunger, improve health and deliver 10 times more vitamin E than other eggs!
Edamame: Grab a handful of frozen shelled soybeans and run them under water for a speedy thaw. Perfect for munching on en route to a meeting or appointment, edamame is an excellent source of fiber and cholesterol-lowering soy protein. For a yummy twist, squeeze some lemon on top!
Apples: Apples are filling and delicious! If you’re feeling a low sugar attack coming on, reach for this fruit. Apples are great for decreasing appetites and suppressing unhealthy cravings, and they’re also a natural source of energy. I don’t start my mornings without one. For a yummy twist, pair apple slices with peanut butter (one of my favorite snacks of all time)!
Avocado Toast: Yup, you’ve seen the trend everywhere. It’s true! Avocados lower cholesterol and contain liver-detoxifying chemicals. Pair with a piece of wheat toast, add some lemon juice, honey, chia seeds and voilà! It’s the most delicious combo ever! What are some of your favorite avocado creations? Share below!
Ants on a Log: Your favorite childhood snack returns! If you’re not familiar with ants on a log, it’s basically celery stalks topped with peanut butter and raisins. Celery is a great source of fiber, which can help speed up your metabolism. It also got voted one of the world’s most healthiest foods!
Watermelon: Watermelon helps your liver and kidneys flush out unnecessary impurities. For a fun twist, place pieces of watermelon on a stick and add blueberries. This treat tastes even yummier frozen!
