Our lifestyle and fashion contributor, Natalie Borton, shares her take on the perfect trio of hats to keep on hand this winter season (and beyond!).
Ever since my son was born (mostly in an effort to hide wild postpartum baby hairs!), I’ve gotten really into wearing hats. They are functional and chic when covering up crazy (or dirty) hair, and pulling together an outfit. This season, I have three on rotation: a dark, wide-brimmed felt fedora, a quilted white baseball cap and a knit pom-pom beanie.
The fedora may just be my favorite solution for feeling pulled together—it adds instant style! For winter, layers are key for feeling warm and cozy, so I put a sweater on over a basic white button down, along with my high-rise skinnies and calf-hair booties.
My favorite way to wear a baseball cap is with a dress. It adds a masculine edge to an otherwise very feminine look. For this look, I wore it with a super-soft sweater dress and tassel necklace and finished it with a classic trench.
Lastly, a knit beanie is really a must for the chilly winter months. I wear mine all the time, as it’s easy to throw on to complement almost any outfit. Here, it’s shown with a simple white T-shirt, boyfriend sweater, grey skinnies and ankle boots, with a scarf to finish off the entire look.
