COFFEE OR TEA?
It all depends on my current status with coffee. Right now, we’re in a relationship, so it’s drip coffee with a splash of half-and-half. I have a tendency to go overboard and drink too much, so several times a year I detox and start my day with black tea instead.
WHAT’S YOUR MORNING BEAUTY ROUTINE?
My morning beauty routine starts with a workout. A good sweat means that I’ll glow all day long! I’m currently into anything by Autumn Calabrese on Beachbody On Demand.
I’ve always been sort of obsessive when it comes to caring for my skin, so admittedly I have a bit of an extensive routine. In the shower, I start by cleansing with Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration Cream Cleanser. And three times a week, I add in an exfoliator to keep my skin looking bright and feeling soft. Once I’m out of the shower, I follow with a spray toner, serum, eye cream and face moisturizer. I am a big believer in green beauty, so I choose natural or organic products as much as possible.
For makeup, I rely on three go-to “looks” to keep my routine streamlined. The first is a cat-eye with a pink lip. It’s what I choose most days and Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner is a must-have. The second is a gray smoky eye with a nude lip. And the last is a bare eye with a bold lip. I love berry shades like bareMinerals’ Marvelous Moxie Lipstick in Lead the Way this time of year.
Up next is my hair. Like everyone else in the world, I’m a fan of the lob. But sadly, I struggled with styling it for too long. The Beauty Department’s tutorial ultimately cured all my styling woes. I use Paul Mitchell’s Extra-Body Daily Boost, a sea salt spray, 1.5-inch curling iron and flexible hairspray to create beachy waves. Then, after a quick spritz of perfume, I’m out the door!

WHAT’S THE FIRST WEBSITE YOU LOOK AT IN THE MORNING?
My personal email is through Yahoo!, so it’s my first click after I’ve gotten settled in at the office. Yahoo! has great up-to-the-minute news and stories. Plus, it’s an instant pick-me-up to see “Your Order Has Shipped” emails pop up in my inbox!
WHAT’S YOUR MORNING SOUNDTRACK?
Currently, it’s Counting Crows or Better Than Ezra radio on Pandora. Playing music while I’m getting ready helps set the tone for the day!
WHAT’S FOR BREAKFAST?
After my morning cup of coffee or tea, I have a banana with peanut butter. It allows me to power through my workout without filling me up. Then, after I’m ready for the day, I have a plain Greek yogurt with Grape-Nuts and two eggs, either fried or scrambled with a pinch of cheese. I have been vegetarian for almost eight years, though I recently started eating fish, so I find that getting a big chunk of protein in the morning helps to keep me full. Water is always a top priority for me and I aim for at least eight cups a day, starting with breakfast. I keep a glass on my desk to remind me to stay hydrated.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE YOU TO GET READY IN THE MORNING?
One hour, from shower to perfume. After years of stressing over trying to cut it down, I came to grips with my reality, figured out what works for me and was honest about what I wasn’t willing to give up.
WHAT’S YOUR NIGHTLY ROUTINE BEFORE BED?
I take sleep very seriously, so my bedtime routine is pretty structured. It starts with me changing into my pajamas and washing my face the second I’m done with work for the day.
My husband and I take turns cooking or picking up takeout. If we’re cooking, it’s usually salmon, rice and a veggie. But if it’s takeout, it’s likely Mexican food (guacamole is my weakness). After dinner, I have a cup of tea (Celestial Seasonings’ Cinnamon Apple Spice is my favorite) while we watch the news and our shows.
I’m typically in bed about an hour before I even fall asleep. I like to spend this time snuggling with my pups. Some nights, if I’m not able to fall asleep easily, I try guided meditation. A friend of mine turned me on to Oprah & Deepak 21-Day Meditation Experience and it really helps.
WHAT TV SHOWS, BOOKS, PODCASTS AND MAGAZINES ARE YOU INTO?
I’m a thriller junkie, so “The Blacklist,” “How to Get Away With Murder,” and the new “The X-Files” are shows that I can’t wait to watch every week. I’m also looking forward to the new seasons of “Girls” and “The Mindy Project”!
I’d like to say that I’m as voracious of a reader as I was in my 20s, but it’s just not the case. Most of my reading nowadays occurs on vacation, which isn’t often enough! But I’m slowly making my way through Mindy Kaling’s Why Not Me? and The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein.
WHAT’S YOUR EVENING BEAUTY ROUTINE?
My evening beauty routine starts with cleansing my face at the end of my workday. I adore my Clarisonic Mia 2 and pair it with another cream cleanser to deep clean. Twice weekly, I apply a mask designed for hydration or brightening. Then, I apply a spray toner, serum, eye cream, face moisturizer and lip balm. It’s essentially the same routine as the morning, though I use heavier, more nourishing products at night. Then, just before bed, I brush my hair and slather cream all over my hands and feet. Once I’m in bed, I put my eye mask on and it’s lights out!
