Like most people, I get pretty excited when the seasons change. Where I live in Maryland, we get to experience all the seasons (snow, pretty fall foliage, humidity, etc.), but, nothing really beats the onset of spring. I love the idea of new beginnings and a clean slate, and with that, comes my fair share of cleaning, purging and packing away those bulky sweaters, wool coats and tights. It can be a pain, but it’s so rewarding, too! We are moving in the next few months, so I’ve been trying to get rid of as much clothing as possible (consigning at my local shop or donating) and really hold on to pieces I know I’ll be wearing on repeat this season and into summer. I also picked up a few new pieces recently for the season. I’ve created somewhat of a capsule wardrobe in my closet full of simple, light blouses, striped cotton tees, flouncy skirts and thin sweaters. Today, I’m sharing three of my go-to outfits that you can pretty much find me in until June when it starts to really heat up here!
Boyfriend Jeans & Feminine Blouse
Shop the look: Boyfriend Jeans // Fringe Sandals // ‘Sheila’ Hobo Handbag // Target Top
I wear these jeans from Zara far too frequently, mainly because I love the fit. They are so comfortable, but still ‘skinny’ enough to make me feel somewhat pulled together. While I wear them with T-shirts all the time, I love the look of the distressed denim with something a little more feminine, like this little lace blouse from the Who What Wear collection at Target. They go with just about everything in my spring wardrobe.
Knit Sweater & Flouncy Skirt
Shop the look: Banana Republic Ruffle Sweater // Flouncy Skirt // Wedges // Cross-Body Bag
My all-time favorite spring outfit is a skirt with long sleeves—don’t ask me why! As soon as it’s warm enough to bare my legs, it’s what I constantly reach for in my closet. I have a simple black fluted skirt from a few season’s back at J.Crew that I wear non-stop in the spring and this A-Line printed skirt is fun (from the Phillip Lim for Target collection years ago) to change things up. I love this ruffled sweater from Banana Republic. It’s definitely a winter piece, but works well in these transitional months.
Striped Tee & Trench Coat
Shop the look: Basic Trench // Target Striped Tee // Skinny Jeans // Hush Puppies Sandals // Leather Tote
You can’t beat the classics. All of these staples live in my wardrobe year-round—a tan shoe, a striped top and skinny jeans. Add a lightweight trench and open-toe shoe and you’re set for the season.
