Colorful throw pillows, bohemian textiles, tote bags featuring bright pops of personality—to say that we are big fans of the Baba Souk brand would be a massive understatement! And lucky for both of us, we had the chance to virtually sit down with the brand’s founder, Stephanie Hebert, to get an insider’s look at what inspired the e-commerce shop. Read on for a mini tour of the colorful Baba Souk studio and to see what’s on Stephanie’s to-do list. Plus, find out about her creativity-boosters, too.
First, tell us what we need to know about Baba Souk!
Baba Souk is a wonderful place to shop online if you have a bohemian heart and a playful mind. Baba girls are free spirits with keen eyes. They love to create their own mix. Our tribe loves handmade, authenticity and they like to know they are buying meaningful treasures while, at the same time, encouraging crafters and artists from around the world. Baba Souk is a heartfelt way of shopping and celebrating handmade.
What does the name Baba Souk mean?
A souk is an open-air market where you can buy all kinds of handmade traditional products. My online souk was inspired by Marrakech’s marvelous, colorful market. I stepped into the souk for the first time in 2011. I knew that I needed to create my own version of a souk—the souk of my own dreams. Baba refers to a boho heart, a fun and positive spirit.
