It’s no secret I love perusing the drugstore for awesome drugstore beauty finds, so today, I wanted to share my go-to beauty buys that I pretty much stock up on every summer!
Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Body Mist Sunscreen: First and foremost, sunblock is the most important summer beauty buy! I’ve been using this sunscreen in SPF 30 (or 50) for a few years now. I know people have mixed feelings about sprays, but I’ve found that for me, they are an easier and more effective way to apply sunblock (and keep applying it throughout the day). I love that it doesn’t feel greasy at all and that it protects against UVA and UVB rays.
Neutrogena Age Shield Face Lotion Sunscreen: I love this sunscreen in SPF 70 and apply it every time I’m out in the sun. I’m also trying to incorporate it into my daily morning skincare routine this summer. This sunblock has anti-aging protection and, similar to the spray, it feels light and non-greasy.
Aquaphor Advanced Therapy On-The-Go: I love Aquaphor all year round, but during the summer, I use it on my lips, on any burns or scratches, as well as for taming my brows or giving my face a little post-sun sheen when I go from beach to bar. I’ll apply it to my eyelids, or mix it with a little blush for a creamy blush effect. If I’m going for a stained lip look, I’ll dab on some lipstick with my fingers and then put a little Aquaphor over it.
L’Oréal Sublime Bronze Serum: This has been my go-to self tanner for a few years now. It’s so easy to apply and, because it’s colored, it makes it more foolproof because you can see where you’ve put it or where you’ve missed a spot. I think it gives the skin such a natural bronze color! I have to give an honorable mention to Jergens Natural Glow, which I sometimes use in tandem with the Sublime Bronzer. Usually when I want to build up a tan, I’ll start with one or two uses of Jergens before diving into the Sublime. If I’m short on time though, I’ll go right for the Sublime.
Dry Brush: One of the best ways to exfoliate your skin and create a smooth surface for a flawless tan is to pick up a brush and “dry-brush” before you hop in the shower. This is always a must for me in the summer.
Organix Moroccan Argan Oil Weightless Healing Dry Oil & Organix Moroccan Argan Oil Extra Strength: I love applying oil to my hair, especially in the summer when the sun tends to dry it out! I apply the Organix Moroccan Argan Oil Extra Strength on my damp hair, concentrating on the ends of my hair. Then sometimes, I’ll spritz the Healing Dry Oil lightly all over my hair. I like the dry oil because you can use it when your hair is dry as well.
Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray: I’ve been using this drugstore sea salt spray for years now. I love that it gives me textured beach waves and that it smells like coconut. This spray just feels like summer to me.
Wide Tooth Comb: I pretty much always use a wide tooth comb for my hair, but I especially love to use one during the summer. It keeps my hair untangled, but doesn’t brush out any of the texture that I love so much.
Scunci Jaw Clips: These clips are my go-to when I want to get my hair up and out of my face but don’t want to use a rubber band. They are great during the summer when hair is wet because they don’t snag your hair!
L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Miss Manga Mascara Waterproof Blackest Black: I typically switch to waterproof mascara in the summer, because it holds up better against sweat. I have a mild obsession with this mascara and always go back to it because it gives me amazing volume and length. It also does a pretty good job with my lower lashes as well.
4-in-1 Foot Wand: Wearing sandals and flip flops all summer, your feet are on not only on display more, but also have a better chance of getting dirtier (gross, but true). I’m always extra vigilant about keeping my feet looking clean and polished. I use this brush in the shower every day during the summer.
Essie Nail Polish: I have a special love for Essie nail polish and always try a few new shades each summer.
Neutrogena Revitalizing Lip Balm: I’m not going to lie, lip products are one of my favorite things to purchase at the drugstore. I always go back to this tinted lip balm in Sunny Berry, though. It’s super moisturizing and has such a nice berry tint to it. Plus, it has SPF!
Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer: These are more of a recent discovery, but I’m kind of in love. I love lip tint during the summer (as opposed to a heavier, full-coverage lipstick) and these give such a nice wash of color that is easily buildable. I also enjoy the minty smell. Right now, I have the Cherry and Rhubarb shades.
Lip Smacker Lip Balm in Dr. Pepper: I was pretty obsessed with Lip Smackers when I was younger and always love to purchase this one every now and then for a little throwback. It gives a nice hint of color as well.
