Why the name “Kick Pleat”? Tell us about your store and business mission.
I was traveling with my best friend in the South of France and we were brainstorming name ideas along our journey. She woke up one day and “Kick Pleat” were the first two words that came out of her mouth. That was what I decided to go with.
What do you love most about Texas?
I love the people, the food, my friends, the friendliness, it’s easy-living, the big sky—did I mention tacos?

Charlotte Rampling, Lauren Hutton, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy.
What are your five closet essentials?
Martiniano glove shoe, Sofie D’Hoore button-down, Jesse Kamm sailor pant, a great pleated navy/black pant I own from Suzanne Rae, a lightweight (but warm) overcoat that I can wear in Texas and when I travel, a Christophe Lemaire button-down, a long-sleeved shirt that doubles as a shirt and a light jacket.
Who are business role models?
I get excellent business advice from some of my closest friends who are great at what they do and have worked hard to make their way. Margaret Vera from Fresa’s and the Launderette, and Carla Pineyro Sublett who is the CMO at Rackspace are two examples.
Favorite part of the day?
When I finally get in bed at night and get to read my book and go to sleep.
What can’t you leave the house without?
My phone, computer and wallet carried in my large natural leather tote that goes with everything.
If you could travel anywhere right now, where would you go?
I crave a beach vacation more than anything. I have really wanted to visit Vieques in Puerto Rico.
