As a wife, mom, blogger and jewelry designer, Natalie Borton is no stranger to a stressful morning! Yet, she’s managed to come up with a few tricks to bring a little order to her morning beauty routine. Read on for her time-saving tricks when it comes to your own post-wake-up beauty routine.
We all wish we had more time in the morning, don’t we? The alarm always seems to go off sooner than we wanted (or the baby cries earlier than anticipated), and before we know it, it’s time to leave the house and we’re scrambling. Thankfully, it doesn’t always have to be like that. There are simple steps we can all take to streamline our morning routines, giving us more time to do what we love to do—or at the very least, drink a hot cup of coffee in peace before hopping in the car. Read on for a few strategies to try.
Shower at Night
Skip the morning shower and take one in the evening instead. You can save your hair from the blow dryer by air drying at night and curling or straightening your already-dry hair in the morning, or simply do your hair before bed and sleep on it for a slightly more lived-in look—just add a little texture spray in the morning and you’re done.
Try a Sleek ‘Do
We are loving the low bun this season, not only for its sleek, chic look but also because it is a major time saver (and lets you skip the heat styling altogether)! This is an especially helpful style if you didn’t manage to get the shower in the night before, as dirty hair tends to hold even better.
Stick to Multi-Use Products
Any product that can do more than one thing is your friend. Try an SPF lotion that’s also a tinted moisturizer, so you can skip the face cream and foundation. And try a cream blush that’s also a lip color.
Only Do What Counts
Along the same lines as using multi-use products, you will save yourself a ton of time by sticking to the makeup that makes the most difference, rather than doing a full face every single day. Everyone’s “essentials” will be different, but for me that means brows (they go a long way toward looking fresh and put-together‚ blush or bronzer on my cheeks and mascara). Figure out what makeup goes the distance for you and stick to that for the mornings when you’re short on time.
