Like many of you, we love to enjoy a hearty piece (or two!) of topped toast at breakfast or even oftentimes at lunch, especially this time of year when the weather starts to cool down and our mornings are met with chillier temperatures. But this season, we’ve decided that it’s time we rethink our standard go-to toast fixings. Below, our editorial director, Caitlin Kruse, shares a trio of tasty recipes that will have you looking at toast in a totally new way. From fresh figs and whipped ricotta to beet hummus and goat cheese, there’s a flavor for just about everyone!
Three Updates For Your Morning Toast
- Cream Cheese and Jam: Mix your favorite berry jam with a few tablespoons of goat cheese for a tangy, yet sweet, combo that you’re sure to enjoy. We drizzled a little extra jam on top to make it even sweeter.
- Beets and Goat Cheese: One of our favorite salad combinations is beet with goat cheese, so we decided to turn the combo into a toast! We used Trader Joe’s beet hummus and mixed it with equal parts goat cheese. The results? This savory topped toast is surprisingly tasty. Drizzle it with a little olive oil to serve.
- Whipped Ricotta with Fruit: This toast is enough to serve as a light lunch. Simply spread a few tablespoons of fresh ricotta cheese on your toasted bread and top with fresh fruit and honey. We love peaches when in season and figs this time of the year.
