An Easy Way To Decorate Around A TV

Decorate Around A TV

I’ve struggled for years with how to decorate around our flat-screen TV. In our last house, I left the wall empty for a year after several attempts at hanging artwork around it and it was a complete eye sore. This post on Emily Henderson’s site inspired me to give a gallery wall a go. It requires using one statement-making piece to anchor the wall—in this case, a beautiful floral print from Minted. While you can certainly still see the TV, it takes the focus off of the giant black rectangle and instead brings your eyes to the art.

Here are a few tips for creating a gallery wall behind your TV:

  • Decide on a color palette. Here I used mainly neutrals with blue, gray and peach tones.
  • Use one large piece to anchor the wall. It should be a similar size to your TV.
  • Don’t be afraid to incorporate other items (i.e. small mirrors or a starburst) as I did here to keep it interesting.
  • Create your arrangement before you start nailing holes into the wall. Here is a great tutorial on how to do this.
