Our contributor, Natalie Borton, always wows us with her impeccable (yet relaxed!) style, and today, she doesn’t disappoint with her breakdown of little black dress stylings to take you from fall to winter.

A little black dress (LBD) is a wardrobe essential for good reason—it’s classic, sexy and incredibly versatile. While, of course, you can always keep it simple and wear it as-is, there are endless ways to layer and create outfits that feel totally new and appropriate for a variety of occasions. I put together three ways to style a simple LBD for daytime, work and a date night or girls’ night out. As the base for each outfit, I’m wearing a fitted knee-length dress from Tapered Collection.

Daytime Casual

Whether it’s shopping, errands or a lunch with girlfriends, create a casual fall look that is both comfortable and chic by adding boots, a cocoon sweater, a wide-brimmed hat and a long necklace.

For the Office

A long vest makes a fitted dress office-appropriate and interesting, and gives it a more tailored appearance. Add ankle boots and a chunky necklace to finish it off.

Date Night

Try something new for date night and layer a knotted chambray shirt over your LBD to accentuate your waist. Button it to the top and accessorize with a sparkly statement necklace and cage sandals to keep it feminine, chic and a little edgy.
