Today, I’m excited to share a peek at the inspiration behind my upcoming bathroom makeover! I’ve already shared tips for buying a house and the few changes we made to our living and dining spaces, but our next project is gutting our master bath. Spoiler: we’re starting from scratch! I’ll admit that it’s a little overwhelming when the possibilities seem endless, but thanks to our friends at Kohler and their amazing design & inspiration hub IDEAS I’ve come up with a great plan—or so I think!
Ever since Kohler’s beautiful gold sink and shower faucets and hardware hit the market, a few years ago I knew I wanted to include them in my home one day. The Purist line is so sleek and in my opinion… it’s timeless too. We have the faucets in our hall bath already and love them! When thinking about our bathroom design I knew I wanted it to be mostly neutral with a subtle pattern and gold accents throughout. The overall look I’m trying to achieve is a mix of modern and traditional – something you’ll see throughout the rest of our home. When designing any space I always like to include a natural element (wood, rattan), metallic finish and neutral colors that can be livened up with pops of color in the accessories. I find this works well since I’m drawn to neutral spaces but also love color!
I’m looking forward to ripping out our bulky bathtub and installing a sleek pivot door. Our bathroom is small and since we rarely take baths I figured we’d make the room look as large as possible. Having a sleek glass door instead of a dated tub will create a spa-like experience. I can’t wait to feel like I’m at a luxe hotel every day when I shower! While we are at it we plan on removing our funky wall mounted toilet (a real big eye sore) and replacing it with a clean, modern toilet from Kohler.
We’re also adding a fun pattern with white tile that will really make taking a shower feel like an escape! I originally wanted to use cement patterned tile to create an accent wall in the shower, but instead decided to use this pattern from Cement Tile Shop on the floors. The shower will have oversized subway tile in a herringbone pattern which I can’t wait to see paired with the gold faucet!
We picked this simple white Jacquard vanity which will have gold hardware and most importantly will be organized inside thanks to all of the awesome accessories Kohler has — I’m pretty excited about this electrical strip that installs inside the door to keep for my hair tools organized and plugged in for easy access when I need them. I am still finalizing the patterned tile (there are so many beautiful options, it’s overwhelming), but I plan to mix in white tile (subway or penny tile) and wood accents. I also want to get a vintage kilim rug to bring in some color. We are adding open shelves with a concealed cabinet for our laundry too. I can’t wait to share the before and after!
