The Starter Guide To Beauty Supplements

An Interview With Kerrilynn Pamer and Cindy DiPrima of CAP Beauty

We’ve all heard the saying, “Beauty comes from within,” and this is true when it comes to healthier and younger-looking skin, hair and nails. That’s why it’s important to have a well-rounded beauty routine that includes topical skincare and oral-based supplements. Contributor, Caylee Ashwell, shares a few supplements that are worth checking out.

Beauty in a bottle? Count us in. There’s a plethora of beauty supplements on the market right now, each promising Rapunzel-length locks, porcelain skin, a speedier metabolism, or longer, stronger nails. But, do they really work? We sifted through reviews and found these five beauty supplements to be worth the money and the hype…

For acne-prone skin: HUM Daily Cleanse ($25, 3-ounce bottle) –  This herb-nutrient blend is packed with powerful detoxifying ingredients like algae, beetroot and dandelion root that work to cleanse the skin and body from the inside out. Two capsules twice daily help reduce the appearance of acne while preventing future breakouts from happening.

For longer, thicker hair: Ouai Thin Hair Supplement ($28, 30-Day Pack) – These pills are the perfect cocktail of all your favorite hair growth helpers: biotin, silica and amino acids. They target the hair follicle, delivering an intense hydration that causes hair to grow longer and healthier than before. Expect results in 90 days (or less, according to some reviews!).

For stronger nails (and hair!): Solgar Gelatin Capsules ($14.92, 250 capsules) – One two many acrylic sets or gel polish coats can leave your nails fragile, thin and unable to grow much at all. Taking one to two gelatin capsules daily can quickly offset damage and strengthen your nails, as they’re rich with protein and calcium. You’ll also see the benefits in your hair and overall complexion. And, you can’t beat that price.

For brighter, glowing skin: Moon Juice Beauty Dust ($30, 1.5 ounces) – Add a dash or two to your morning coffee and smoothie for an instant pick-me-up. The dust is a blend of five ingredients (including goji and pearl) that help minimize stress and promote a brighter complexion. Of all six Dusts by Moon Juice, the Beauty Dust receives the most *glowing* reviews.

For a boost in mood and energy: Perricone MD Omega 3 Dietary Supplement ($42, 90 capsules) – Sephora users swear by these pills to help combat fatigue, boost overall energy and regulate weight. They’re rich with daily essential vitamins and minerals your day-to-day diet might lack. Take one to three capsules daily with breakfast and start your day off right!
