Baba Souk founder, Stephanie Hebert, is back with more global inspiration alongside stylist, Camille Picard, this time centered on the idea of a seasonal summer brunch tablescape. Read on for Stephanie and Camille’s professional styling tips and tricks!
It’s that blissful time of year again when, on any given sunny day, all you really want to do is invite your friends over for brunch and indulge in fresh food from the farmers’ market. We recently added these super cute wicker placemats with tassels to the Baba Souk collection and they’ve inspired a dreamy summer brunch table. Our stylist Camille and I thought these festive placemats were the perfect excuse to share a few easy styling tips with you. Scroll on for tips to get the look!
We hesitated between a vintage pink and floral tablecloth but then figured, why not layer them? So we used a pink linen tablecloth, folded it and placed it on top of the floral one. We really love the look. I’m going to use this little trick again and again this summer because it really adds to the mix. As long as there is a cohesive color scheme going on, you can mix and match lots of different colors and patterns.
Mix & match:
Try collecting different plates and glasses for your tablescape. This adds interest and, let’s be real…it’s a lot more fun! The gorgeous plates you see pictured above and below are from Anthropologie, and we also used different glasses that we already had on hand in lots of various shapes and colors. Have a look in your own cabinet and pull out favorite crystal cocktail glasses that you never use—you might be surprised by the beauty you can create without spending much at all (if any!).
Our new wicker placemats with tassels are perfect for doing just that. You could also use different kinds of serving baskets. Add tons of coziness to your setting by propping pillows up on your dining room chairs or bench. Walk around your house and grab some pillows (or shop from our gorgeous new collection—we have so many dreamy new pillows!). This little detail really makes the entire setting look magical. There’s something special about a bunch of pillows. They suddenly make you feel good and relaxed. Don’t be surprised if your guests want to linger forever.
Create a natural centerpiece:
This is an easy way to add color to your table setting. Prepare lots of fruit and decorate your table before your guests arrive. Bring out lemons, watermelon and pineapple—they add so much color to a table setting and it’s simply mouth-watering! Another stylist tip that everyone seems to know but often forgets is to cut flowers and leaves from your own garden to lay on the table. Monstera or palm leaves are perfect for that. We had these gorgeous pink lupins, but peonies would have been just as pretty.
