We’re never ones to say ‘no’ to a little getaway to Palm Springs, so when the Holiday House reached out to invite us to the newly renovated (and pet-friendly) property, Abby immediately RSVP’d ‘yes’! Read on to hear about her little desert getaway and see the Instagram-worthy photos that will put this property on your destination wish list.
Holiday House was recently renovated by interior designer, Mark D. Sikes, and the team behind Sparrows Lodge, and while it’s located just a block away from the heart of downtown Palm Springs, the property feels secluded and intimate. Part of that has to do with the fact that the boutique hotel houses only 28 rooms and that the staff on hand are the most friendly, accommodating people who make you feel like you are their only guest. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a glass of rosé in a cool Moroccan tumbler, which ultimately set the tone for the entire stay at the hotel.
The lobby consisted of a few separate sitting areas along with the hotel bar—all impeccably designed and totally Instagram-worthy. We were loving the mid-century mode vibes and whimsical touches and we were captivated by the art collection that includes pieces from David Hockney, Roy Lichtenstein, Herb Ritts, Alex Katz and Mr. Brainwash. We can’t say enough about how gorgeous this blue-and-white hotel was and how cool the art was that was displayed throughout the entire property—including the hotel rooms.
After heading through the lobby (and snapping a bunch of pictures), we went to our hotel room, which was extremely spacious and included a king bed, a darling kitchenette area (bar cart included) and a gorgeous bathroom filled with Malin+Goetz products. One thing to note is that there are no televisions at the hotel, but with all its amenities, I promise you won’t miss it—in fact, you’ll probably appreciate the absence of it. There’s no need to be inside watching television when there is a beautiful pool lined with comfortable lounge chairs and blue umbrellas, a hot tub, a shuffle board area and three gorgeous lounge areas. Additionally, the hotel provides adorable polka dot bikes for you and your crew to take out and ride around town.
Because we were only in the desert for 24 hours, we wanted to make the most of the hotel and its amenities, which for us, meant lounging by the pool, reading and relaxing with cocktails in hand. Needless to say, the most difficult part of the day was deciding on which type of rosé I wanted to try. If you’re in the mood for a little snack, make sure to get the chips and guacamole!
One thing we were a little nervous about was the summer heat, especially when it came to our pup. Out by the pool there were ample areas of shade, cover from umbrellas and the hotel had misters and fans that kept everyone cool! Additionally, the air conditioning in the room of the hotel was amazing and we were cool and comfortable the entire time.
I totally wish we could’ve stayed longer, but I know we will be back soon. I can’t stress enough how beautiful this property is, how relaxing it was to stay there and how lovely the staff is at the hotel. It is in short, exactly as the name describes—a holiday—and I highly recommend you book a trip to this hotel ASAP!
