When fall arrives, the air gets colder and suddenly everything around you turns pumpkin flavored. As the weather starts to cool down, we adjust our wardrobe and our coffee, so why not change our beer choices, as well? Any avid beer drinker knows that summer is the time for pilsners, pale ales and bright citrus notes. But for those cooler seasons like fall and winter, it’s all about darker ales and, yes, even pumpkin-flavored beers. Here are a few of our favorite fall beers to try this season. Cheers!

This beer comes from the San Diego brewery, Ballast Point. This tasty beer is a pumpkin-flavored version of Scottish ale. It’s malty, caramel and has just the right amount of hops if you’re not a fan of hoppy beers.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, if you love hops, this beer is a great alternative to a season filled with pumpkin and Oktoberfest beers while still encompassing those great fall flavors.
Out of all the pumpkin beers available, this is a tried-and-true favorite. It has the right amount of pumpkin flavor with subtle touches of brown sugar and spices. Try to find this one quickly because it’s usually sold out by Thanksgiving!
