9 Ways To Give Back This Holiday Season

9 Ways to Give Back This Holiday Season

‘Tis the season for giving! Helping those in need or less fortunate is one of the most fulfilling ways to celebrate the holidays, and luckily, there are so many ways to do this. In the spirit of the holiday season, our business manager, Samantha, rounded up a few of the best ways to give back during the most wonderful time of the year. From presents that give back to ways to donate clothing and toys to those in need, there’s sure to be something on this list for everyone looking to do some good this season.

Gratitude Collaborative

Need a gift for the person who has everything? Or maybe something for that hard-to-shop-for coworker? Gratitude Collaborative curates gorgeous and thoughtful gift boxes full of unique items. Each gift box has a donation built in that provides meals to working families, children and the elderly. See more on the company here.

Symbolic Species Adoptions

This year, we’ve asked that the grandparents “adopt” an animal for my son instead of buying him extra stuff he doesn’t need. For $55, you get an adoption certificate and a stuffed animal, and all the proceeds go toward the animals protected by the World Wildlife Fund and its conservation efforts!

Shop (RED) with Amazon

This year, (RED) and Amazon are teaming-up for (SHOPATHON)RED—a special holiday shopping experience offering people a selection of exclusive (RED) products that raise money for the Global Fund to fight AIDS in Africa. From Nov. 20 through the end of December, shoppers can choose from more than 150 (RED) products including fashion, cosmetics, kitchen goods, tech and more at Amazon.com/RED or via the Amazon App.

Gifts from GAIA

Give the fashion-lover in your life a beautiful gift while supporting the empowerment of women. These pieces are handmade by refugee artisans, while working from home and caring for their children. The ultimate mission is to help refugees thrive in the community through meaningful, living wage employment, while creating chic and elevated accessories that everyone will love.

Rose & Rex

One of the cutest kid shops around, Rose & Rex, will be giving back all season long! It works with Second Chance Toys, a New York-based nonprofit organization that rescues, refurbishes and donates plastic toys to children in need. By collecting toys made out of non-biodegradable plastic that would typically end up in landfills, Second Chance Toys helps protect the planet and promote children’s ability (and right!) to play.

Give Back Box

Looking to donate lightly used home goods and clothing this season? Give Back Box will send you a box along with a list of needed items which you can fill at your discretion. It will provide the shipping and give your box to someone in need.

Operation Gratitude

Not all giving has to involve cash. Write a letter to a member of the military during the holidays through Operation Gratitude and spread a little cheer to someone who can’t be with their family during the season.

BarkBox

Need a gift for the furbaby in your life? You may have heard of subscription-based BarkBox, but did you know that each purchase helps keep dogs out of shelters? A gift for your pup, and a way to help adorable dogs? Win-win!

Throw a Party

Have a favorite cause you want to support? Host a holiday get-together focused on a charity of your choosing where friends can gather to have fun and give back together. Collect donations, gather gifts and party on! See some over our holiday party tips here.
