Raise your hand if you have ever experienced the Sunday blues. Most of us are raising our hands, right? As Monday approaches, we don’t feel ready to face the week ahead just yet. But they say a Sunday well spent brings a week of content and we believe that’s true. Sunday is the perfect day to reset and prepare for a new—and successful—week. That said, our contributor, Joana Ferreira, is here with six Sunday habits that can truly make a difference in starting off a new week with less stress.
1. Make time for self-care.
One of the most important things to do on a Sunday is to schedule in some time for yourself, whether it’s applying a face mask, reading a good book or binge-watching your favorite television show. 2. Write a to-do list for the week ahead.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed by everything that’s on your plate next week, write a to-do list. Mental notes are very convenient, I know, but they’re not trustworthy. Getting your thoughts on paper will give you clarity and prepare you for what’s to come.
3. Schedule things in your planner.
Although this might not sound like the most exciting thing to do on a Sunday, it will pay off once Monday rolls around. So after writing your to-do list, start prioritizing and scheduling things in your planner. This is also a great opportunity to plan your workouts for the week. If they’re scheduled in your planner, you are more likely to do them!
4. Plan your meals for the week.
Do you ever get home after a stressful day at work only to realize that you either have no idea what to make for dinner or there’s a key ingredient missing in your pantry? A lot of us can relate to that, right? Meal planning can not only save you time and stress but can also help you make healthier food choices. If you don’t want to go all in and spend your Sunday cooking, start by creating a menu for the week ahead and then head to the grocery store to make sure you have everything you need. 5. 10-minute tidy up.
It’s not a pleasant feeling to wake up on a Monday morning to dishes piled up high in the sink or clothes everywhere, is it? To avoid that—and if you don’t fancy wasting two hours cleaning on a Sunday—spend 10 minutes tidying up before bed. Again, this is not the most exciting thing to do on a Sunday, but it truly can make a difference.
6. Go to bed early.
Getting to bed a little earlier on Sundays will give you more energy to tackle the week ahead. So about an hour before bed, take the time to unwind and get yourself ready for bed. Light a candle, pour yourself a hot drink and grab a good book. It will help you relax and take your mind off the dreaded Monday.
