How To Have A More Mindful Morning Routine

Oh girl, we get it. Waking up some mornings can be hardBut starting your morning off on the right foot can really set the tone for your entire day. I mean, how much better is your day when you can mindfully organize and head out the door versus scrambling to make it on time? Set yourself up for success with these few simple tips for creating a more mindful morning routine.

1. Rise n’ shine

Instead of setting your alarm for the time that requires you to sleep as long as possible, try setting it with at least half an hour of buffer time built in. It’s amazing what an extra 30 to 60 minutes can do for your sanity in those early hours of the day. By building in buffer time, you’re working to eliminate the stress of being late, which can throw off your entire mood for the day.

2. Let the fresh air in

Start the day off by opening the bedroom windows and curtains so that the sun and air can seep in. Circulating the air in the room will help you wake up and feel more connected with your surroundings.

3. Leave your phone alone

Yep, you knew we were going to say it. Even if you use your phone as an alarm clock, turn it off after you wake up for at least 30 minutes. Diving straight into technology and staring at screens upon waking isn’t the best way to set your mindset because it doesn’t allow you to mindfully connect with your own thoughts prior to absorbing the going ons of the day.

4. Boost your mood

Burn incense, diffuse some oils, whatever smell combination awakens your heart, use that. We love lemon + rose geranium because it is bright and uplifting in the early morning.

5. Flush your system

A glass of warm water with lemon and a few inner beauty boosters is the perfect way to start your morning.

6. Check in with yourself

Whether you like to meditate, do yoga or prefer a daily self-affirmation, use a few minutes of your morning to sit in the quiet and check in with your body and mind. Put your hands on your heart and your belly and take a few deep cleansing breaths. Center your focus for the day before you start the process of getting ready.

7. Treat your skin
