We Tried The Hottest Fall Lip Colors + These Were Our Favs

Fall is here (officially and technically) and it’s time to say goodbye to the pinks of summer and hello to bold fall colors. By now, you know how much we love clean beauty over here, so we wanted to try out some of the hottest new colors for fall, but also stick to our clean beauty routines. Keep reading to see which colors we tried and loved!

“Vintage” by Osmosis – brownish red

Taylor: This lipstick color looks so different on me than it does in the bullet. It looks like it would be a dusty pink but it’s more reddish brown on me.

Sam: I was actually surprised how red this one pulled on me, especially compared to everyone else. I was pleasantly surprised because I’m definitely a red lip girl.

Wendy: This pinky nude can definitely finish off any makeup look. I like that this shade goes with just about any look, even if I go a little crazy on the eyeshadow.

Evalyn: I like that this is a warmer color with tints of orange, it will go so well with all the fall sweaters waiting to be worn!

Nicole: This lipstick has super strong staying power—it lasted for hours! Vintage is a very pretty shade, and would be great for date nights or special occasions.

“Backstage” by BeautyCounter: a dusty “beige pink”

Taylor: This color is my least favorite. It’s a muted brown that isn’t doing my sallow skintone any favors. Although it does remind my of my middle school look a little bit.

Sam: I really like how the BeautyCounter lipsticks feel minty when you put them on and they go on super smooth. This one definitely isn’t my color, but I appreciated the formula!

Wendy: I was pleasantly surprised by this color. Not only is the formula super opaque, but the color was a very nice cool nude. I usually steer clear from these colors because I’m afraid of looking washed out by the color, but this was perfect for a recent date night.

Evalyn: I love this cool brown hue with a hint of sheen. It’s a little edgy while still being natural.

Nicole: I really like this color. Not only is it very neutral and pretty for fall, but it left my lips feeling smooth and hydrated and it stayed on a long time.

“Marsala” by Ilia – neutral brown

Taylor: This plum-y brown isn’t a color I would normally go for. Although on someone with a different skintone, I think it could be striking.

Sam: Not gonna lie, I was a little scared of this one because I just don’t wear brown lipsticks. That said, ILIA is one of my absolute favorite clean beauty brands and this lipstick didn’t disappoint.

Wendy: This is possibly my favorite lipstick at the moment. It’s such a beautiful your-lips-but-better shade. I love the undertone against my complexion.

Evalyn: I am typically truly not a lipstick girl, but I love this color so much! It’s the perfect fall color that’s not too bright and natural enough to wear either every day or for a night out.

Nicole: I really liked this lipstick, as the shade really complements many of the colors in my fall wardrobe. I’d likely wear this one as an everyday lipstick to give my lips a little color and enhance my overall look.

Little Black Dress by BeautyCounter – neutral berry

Taylor: First, I notice how pale dark lipsticks look on me. While it’s a bold look, I’m not sure it’s for me. This one has a hint of red that I kind of like. It’s also nice and creamy in texture.

Sam: I really loved this one. It was such a nice, natural color for me yet pulled the rest of my look together. Definitely a great everyday color for fall.

Wendy: I definitely know why this shade is named Little Black Dress—they pair perfectly. One swipe, and the color was even and smooth. Plus, the subtle hint of peppermint was refreshing.

Evalyn: I love to lean toward darker hues and this is the prettiest berry shade that would look good on so many people!

Nicole: I was initially really scared of trying this color, but after I applied it to my lips (and with a little blotting), I actually like it! It left my lips feeling moisturized and with a nice satin finish.

“Sassy” by Osmosis – matte red

Taylor: This is the reddest of the bunch and also my favorite. I look better in brighter and more saturated colors. I like that it has flecks of gold glitter. It’s a bit drying, but that’s OK for a holiday look.

Sam: This is my wheelhouse. I could wear a matte red lip every day and be a happy girl. This one has the tiniest bit of sparkle when you look at it in the tube, but it’s totally classic red when applied. This is my favorite!

Wendy: I was not expecting this color to be so red. It’s a bit darker in the tube, but what a nice red it is! I usually go for red with blue undertones, but this shade definitely changed my mind.

Evalyn: I honestly can’t believe I like a red lipstick! It’s such a perfect red color, not too bright or cheap looking, just a really pretty classic red.

Nicole: I’m not very adventurous when it comes to lipstick, as I prefer lighter and more neutral colors that complement my skintone. However, I really like this lipstick because the color really stands out, yet it feels lightweight and soft on my lips. I’m excited to wear this shade all through the holiday season and winter.
