13 Beauty Products That Will Make You Look More Awake

I used to think I was immune to dark undereye circles. I could go out all night, be up at 7 a.m. for a finance final and still look awake and alert. But then motherhood and age caught up with me. Even if you haven’t had kids yet or you’re still young enough to skimp on sleep and not look like you’ve been hit by a truck, there are a few amazing products that can help prevent and repair those pesky bags. Plus, I’m throwing in a few of my favorite makeup tips to help you look even more aware and refreshed!

Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector ($32)

“Like 8 hours of sleep in a jar.” This is a full-coverage corrector that brightens undereye circles with ultra-fine light-reflecting illuminators.

Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels ($30)

I always take these with me when I travel. They’re perfect for use before events or photoshoots when you just need a little extra refresh to look more awake.

Huda Beauty The Overachiever High Coverage Concealer ($30)

Call in the big guns. This concealer has one of the highest pigment percentages on the market, meaning the coverage is major. It’s also packed with green tea to give your eyes a little burst of caffeine.

It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Illumination Full Coverage Anti-Aging Waterproof Concealer ($24)

If you’re worried about fine lines or wrinkles, this is a great choice. It’s really nice coverage for dark circles, but is also full of peptides, vitamins and antioxidants your skin will love to drink up.

Fenty Beauty By Rihanna Match Stix Matte Skinstick ($25)

I’m a total Fenty Beauty convert. This matte skin stick and the blotting powder are two of my holy grail products. This matte formula is great for covering, color correcting and contouring any tired eyes.

Kaja Cat Nap Under Eye Brightener ($19)

This peach-toned color corrector is meant to be almost like a concealer primer. It helps cover dark circles and lets the concealer really settle in and brighten without getting cakey or creasy.

Dior Fix It 2-in-1 Prime + Color Correct ($36)

This handy little stick comes in four different colors, based on what your undertones are. It helps you target specific areas that need color correcting for a more even, perfect skintone.

Laura Mercier Under Eye Brightening Powder ($28)

If you’re worried about creasing, a quick tap of this translucent powder on top of your concealer will set it in place and help maximize the wear of your coverup.

Milk Makeup Cooling Water Stick ($24)

Had a few too many glasses of wine with the girls last night? Or the baby decided sleep was for suckers? I love this little water stick that cools and depuffs even the biggest of bags. It’s like a cup of coffee for your eyes.

Tatcha The Pearl Illuminating Eye Treatment ($48)

This tinted eye treatment is a double whammy. It gives you light coverage with three different shades, and over time it reduces fine lines and wrinkles. It uses pearl extract to counteract thinning skin, blue undertones and pigmentation, which are all major dark circle culprits.

White Eyeshadow ($17)

One of my favorite makeup tricks for tired eyes is white eyeshadow, especially one with a pearlescent highlight. Add a little of this shadow in the corner of your eyes and you’ll instantly look more awake. If you’re really, really tired? You can apply it in the corners and slightly above the crease for a wide-eyed and bushy tailed look.

Shiseido The Makeup Eyelash Curler ($22)

Curling your lashes is a simple, but often skipped step. Curl your lashes before applying mascara and your eyes will appear larger and more open, giving you the appearance of being more awake.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer ($23)

Pull attention away from heavy undereye bags with arched brows. Full, defined brows with a nice arch give a lifted appearance for tired eyes.
