“Productivity is being able to do things that you were never able to do before.” ~ Franz Kafka
Since the launch of the new Glitter Guide site, we’ve been structuring our content to have an overarching theme each month. Last month we focused on creative energy and all the things that help keep you inspired. This month, we’re shifting our focus on to productivity!
We’re a fully remote team here at Glitter Guide, so productivity is something that is crucial to our success. You can’t have a tiny 5 person team churning out this much content without some productivity parameters in place. But productivity looks different for everyone!
Too many of us are overscheduled, overconnected and overstimulated by all the noise, interruptions and complexity of current society.
Many people easily confuse “busy” and “productive.” They occupy their time with too many things and end up doing nothing that really gets them closer to their goals. Busy is time-consuming and stressful. You simply can’t do it all and respond to everything and everyone. Busy work makes you feel like you are moving quickly and being productive in the process. But in effect, you are not. You are choosing quantity over quality; the worst thing you can do with your precious time. Cramming as much work into the day as you can isn’t necessarily the best strategy for productivity. Rushing through as many tasks as you can seem like the best thing to do but you could end up sacrificing your high-value goal.
The critical ingredient is getting off your butt and doing something. It’s as simple as that. A lot of people have ideas, but there are few who decide to do something about them now. Not tomorrow. Not next week. But today.
Time management is a qualitative lens instead of a quantitative one. Your time is limited. Doing everything is not an option. Productivity is fairly simple, in theory. Even if you have an overwhelming amount to do, the steps aren’t hard to figure out: Pick something important to work on (a task from your most important project, perhaps). This month, we’re going to breakdown all the ways you can boost productivity in different aspects of your life, get valuable insight from some of our favorite productive business owners, and help you find the inspiration you need to make September your best month yet. I’m a productivity nerd, so I am stoked. I hope you’ll enjoy this month’s theme and find it valuable as we enter into the remaining part of the year!
