Doesn’t it feel like as soon as Halloween is over the world automatically jumps into holiday mode? I know that’s how it has been over here. It’s exhausting and exciting at the same time. And while I might not be ready to hand over the Christmas list my mom prematurely asked me for, I do have a bunch of wonderful things I loved this month that I wanted to share with you!
Block Shop Textiles Dhurrie Rug Collection: I’m something of a Block Shop fan girl. I gush over pretty much everything it releases, and always have its napkins on my Christmas list. Its new dhurrie rug collection is what my dreams are made of. As soon as I have a house that doesn’t have multiple dogs and/or toddlers, I’ll finally splurge.
Made By Yoke Candles: I burn candles all day, and these have been some of my favorite. They are so pretty on my countertop, but they’re also really high-quality and smell amazing.
“Be Here To Love Me: A Film About Townes Van Zandt”: My husband and I are lifelong Townes Van Zandt fans. He’s arguably one of the best songwriters in the entire world. My husband lent out his DVD copy of “Be Here To Love Me” and we finally just got it back after two years and I forgot how amazing it is. I could watch it every week.
Oui Shave The Rose Gold Single-Blade Razor: I don’t exaggerate when I say this has been a game changer. I’ve always used plastic razors, but in my attempt to go more green, I’ve been contemplating switching to a single blade one. When I found this razor, it was kismet. It’s gorgeous, yes, but also holy cow does it work like magic. Even my husband, who is a barber and a razor professional, was incredibly impressed by the quality. It’s definitely a sustainability switch you won’t regret making.
Risking Success for the Sake of Authenticity episode: It was so much fun having Taylor on my podcast this month, and by far one of my favorite episodes to date. In case you missed it, Taylor and I chat all about the changes at Glitter Guide, the importance of authenticity, and how Taylor’s letting it guide the company moving forward.
Essie Nail Color 603 Rocky Rose: After years of having my long acrylic nails, I decided to take a break. If you’ve ever had acrylics, you know the havoc they wreak on your nails. To ease the transition, I stocked up on a ton of nail polish at Target, and this one has been on repeat. It’s actually a lot more of a terracotta color than the picture shows, and since my son’s name is Rocky, that made me love it even more.
Anatomy of an Introvert: Isabelle Feliu is one of my favorite artists, and now I’ve got my eye set on her “Anatomy of an Introvert” piece, something that really resonates with me.
Lonesome Dove: I found a really cool copy of this book at a thrift store a few weeks ago, and I was really excited. It’s one of those huge novels that has been on my to-read list for ages, so it felt meant to be that it landed in the thrift store. Our dog is actually named after one of the characters in this book, because we loved him in the movie version, so I’m really excited to read this from start to finish.
Nine of Cups Botanicals: I’m in love with everything in this cool Etsy shop. The black fine line embroidery she does reminds me of tattoos, and it’s unlike anything I’ve seen before with embroidery. She also sells rainbows, sweet florals and plants, and a lot of other styles. Plus, did you know if you dye fabric with avocado pits, it turns the fabric pink? So cool!
Studio Proba “LIVING SHAPES” Public Sculptures: Artist Alex Proba shared renderings for the coolest large-scale sculptures in a collection called “Living Shapes.” Right now, she’s working on constructing them IRL at a ranch in Arizona, but you can check out all the amazing renderings here.
