I love podcasts. I also love TED Talks. They’re such a great source of inspiration in pretty much any topic you’re looking for. I also appreciate that they’re succinct and packed full of actionable tidbits. It’s rare that you won’t find me with a podcast or a TED Talk on in the background when I’m getting ready for the day, working, cleaning, etc. Pretty much the only time I don’t have one on is when I’m reading. Today is officially the last day of 2019, so I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite podcast episodes and TED Talks to inspire you in the new year.
Podcast: 10 Percent Happier with Dan Harris
I read Dan Harris’s book 10 Percent Happier when it first came out in 2014 and really enjoyed it. If you want to utilize meditation in the new year, this episode is a great place to start. You’ll get some really helpful tips on how to start and stick to a meditation practice in 2020.
TED Talk: Shonda Rhimes
My Year Of Saying Yes To Everything
I still remember seeing Shonda Rhimes’s book on my mom’s coffee table and rolling my eyes. What could the creator of “Grey’s Anatomy” really know about life? Turns out, a lot. If you haven’t read her book, I highly recommend it. But if you’re pressed for time, this TED Talk is incredibly inspirational and will have you entering 2020 saying “YES!” to life.
Podcast: UnF*ck Your Brain
I love how this episode takes an honest look at self-care. Instead of the surface level self-care we often see on the internet, this episode really helps with understanding and practicing self-care in a way that changes you, as opposed to seeking dopamine hits from illusory pleasures that don’t really create any long-term changes in our lives.
TED Talk: Eduardo Briceño

Podcast: Good Life Project
In this episode, you’ll learn all about “Success Scaffolding,” which is a framework that applies to any goals or dreams you have. You can use this technique for anything from weight loss to relationships to career goals. TED Talk: Emily Esfahani Smith
There’s More To Life Than Being Happy
This may sound counterintuitive, because who doesn’t want to be happy, right? But there’s a difference between being happy and having meaning to your life. If you want to have your best year yet, it’s time to look beyond yourself and find your purpose. This episode shares four pillars of a meaningful life and how you can achieve them for yourself.
Podcast: Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations
So this is technically a 10-part series, but it’s worth the time. If you’re motivated to fully transform your life in 2020, this podcast will definitely inspire you. Oprah and Eckhart Tolle break down his book in their conversations and cover everything from consciousness to checking your ego at the door. Let 2020 be the year you live a fully present life!
