5 Houseplants For Brand-New Plant Parents

I have never had a green thumb. I have even, unfortunately, killed two cacti. However, that doesn’t mean that I don’t really love all things green. I love plants, and I’d eventually like to have my own herb garden someday…now I just need to carve out the time!

Even if you’ve killed everything else out there, I promise there are some great plants out there for newbies. They aren’t too pricey and tend to lean toward the no-frills side. We non-green thumbs deserve some plant love, too.

Lucky Bamboo

Just keep in mind that lucky bamboo and bamboo are not the same. This plant doesn’t need as much light as others, so it’s perfect on your desk even if you don’t get much direct light.

Spider Plant

This popular houseplant is very affordable, and perfect if you want to keep indoors as well. It’s also one of the most adaptable houseplants.

Peace Lily

The perfect plant for your home office, the peace lily is beautiful and provides a nice, calming aroma.

Pothos

Like your vines? The pothos might be the best way to go for you then. They add wonderful texture and color to any living space.

English Ivy

This is one of the easiest plants to grow. Be sure to keep this one in a spot that gets bright, indirect sun.
