Why Every Boss Lady Needs A Business Bestie

The peanut butter to your jelly. The Blair Waldorf to your Serena van der Woodsen. The Lucy to your Ethel. Besties is not just a term for the high school crowd anymore, but a crucial element to any boss babe’s success. Our Business Manager, Samantha, is sharing her favorite reasons for finding your missing puzzle piece and growing your business.

Even the most confident of boss babes has those moments of feeling overwhelmed and lack of control in her business. You might even start to doubt why you started and where you’re going. That’s when your business bestie swings in to save the day. Your business bestie can be someone completely different than your real-life, everyday bestie because she just gets you on a different level. While my everyday bestie has been there for every brunch, birthday, breakup and momentary loss of sanity, my business bestie understands my girl boss goals and crazy business schemes, and genuinely believes in me and my work.

Everyone will benefit from a business bestie differently, but here are some of my favorite reasons for needing and maintaining this special relationship.

They Support Your Aspirations.

The best thing about a business bestie is she feels your pain and gets the struggle, because she’s either going through or has gone through the same thing herself. I’m not going to lie, I love my friends, but the majority of them don’t really want to spend their free time discussing the pains of algorithms or whether or not the branding for a certain product is reaching my ideal audience. Your business bestie is an awesome sounding board for ideas and inspiration and best of all, can make sure you’re on the right path.

They Bring You Back Down to Earth.

This goes hand in hand with being supportive—your business bestie will also smack some sense into you when you need it. If you get too emotional or the doubt starts to overwhelm, this gal should be your very first call. We all need a little tough love sometimes, and your business bestie knows exactly what you need to hear.

They Inspire You to Keep Moving.

When you see someone you admire succeed, it pushes you to keep going. Their success is an inspiration (and reassurance!) to you that you’re not just spinning your wheels. You know the saying, “To be a success, surround yourself with positive, successful people.” It’s human nature to simply coast along if we aren’t being pushed. If your business bestie and other boss babes are constantly succeeding and growing, you’ll be amazed to see the ripple effect it has on your own life.

They Bring a Fresh Perspective.

Have you ever gotten so wrapped up in the idea of an idea that you lose sight of the actual concept? It’s a common problem among visionaries. Sometimes, we just don’t want to see the logistics or realities blocking our way. A business bestie can offer a unique insight without bias, which can propel your vision forward in ways you never even imagined. Two heads are better than one, right?

Your business bestie will be one of the most amazing relationships you’ve ever had, and the bond between the two of you is unlike any other. They will love and support you, push you to be a better boss babe and ultimately have a huge impact on the success of your business.
